Lab-Grown Diamonds

Loose laboratory-grown diamonds for bench jewelers: small round melee by the 1-carat bag (0.7–3.6 mm in 0.1 mm steps), single round stones from 0.19 to 0.99 ct, and fancy-shape melee in twelve cuts. All DE colour, VS–VVS clarity; round stones are Hearts & Arrows cut. Prices are published, duties are on us in the US and Europe, and every parcel is photographed or filmed before it ships.

Laboratory-grown diamond is diamond — the same material as a mined stone, grown in a reactor — so it sets, wears and tests like mined diamond and sits unnoticed next to a mined centre stone. What's the same and what's different →

Fancy-shape sizes and diamonds of 1 ct and above are confirmed on request — message Leilei on WhatsApp.

Laboratory-grown diamond melee — questions jewelers ask

Are these real diamonds?

They are diamond — the same carbon crystal, hardness 10, refractive index 2.42 — grown in a reactor instead of mined. The FTC Jewelry Guides reserve words like “real” and “natural” for mined stones, so we describe them as laboratory-grown diamond everywhere on this site, and the finished piece should be described the same way.

Will the stones pass a diamond tester?

Yes. Thermal and electrical diamond testers read laboratory-grown diamond as diamond, because it is diamond. Screening instruments built to separate natural from laboratory-grown diamond will flag them as laboratory-grown or “refer for testing”, which is the correct result.

What does DE / VS–VVS mean on a bag of melee?

The parcel is sorted so colour falls in D–E and clarity in VS–VVS. Melee is graded as a parcel to the supplier’s standard, not stone by stone, and no grading report comes with it. The same applies to single stones under 1 ct.

How many stones are in a 1-carat bag?

Roughly 200 stones at 1.0 mm, 65 at 1.5 mm, 30 at 2.0 mm and 10 at 3.0 mm. Counts are approximate: each bag is sorted to ±0.1 mm of its stated size and stone depth varies. The full table is on the lab-grown melee size chart.

How do I order a fancy shape in a specific mm size?

Each fancy-shape listing has two price tiers by weight per stone (0.04 ct and up, or under 0.04 ct) and a size guide showing which tier a given mm falls in. Message the mm you need on WhatsApp; we confirm what is in stock and send a photo before you pay.

Do you have 1 ct and larger?

Yes, on request. Tell us the shape, weight, colour and clarity you need and we quote from current stock. Message Leilei on WhatsApp.

How is it different from a mined diamond?

Only in origin, price and paperwork. The material is the same — same hardness, same brightness, same reading on a thermal tester — so it sets and wears like mined diamond and sits unnoticed next to a mined centre stone, which is what most of it is bought for. A screening instrument will refer it as laboratory-grown, which is correct, and the invoice must say laboratory-grown diamond. What’s the same and what’s different →
